It’s still autumn on the calendar but here in Maine, the snow doesn’t wait for the official start of winter to arrive. And so it goes this year. A little overnight snow fell in some locations–but no more than inch, and what snow there was has quickly melted off with the arrival of warmer temperatures.
Some big names like senators Angus King and Susan Collins are on hand in Orono for today’s dedication of an expanded facility at the University of Orono–a facility serving as both a wave tank and wind tunnel simulating a stormy ocean situation, and helping scientists to determine if their creations can withstand the extreme motion of the seas. Waves over 100 feet tall and winds of more than 200 miles an hour will be simulated on scale models to test various products.
