More Snow
The National Weather Service now projects anther 8-14 inches of snow for the Midcoast, beginning early tomorrow morning with light snow. It’s then expected to intensify at mid-afternoon on Friday. The snowfall is not expected to end until early Saturday morning.
The Workers Win Out
The Maine Human Rights Commission agrees with three women who say they suffered age discrimination when the Shaw’s supermarket chain laid off hundreds of full-time workers in New England three years ago. The commission ruled unanimously that the company discriminated against the three because the policy decision to lay off only full-time workers primarily affected older employees, who made up most of the full-time work force.
Soon It May Be Given Away
Heating oil prices are still on the wane in Maine. The governor’s energy office says the statewide average is down another four cents a gallon from last week and another seven centers over the past week to $2.56. Kerosene dropped to $3.12 a gallon and propane is down to $2.66.
