With about 3500 votes cast, members of S6, the machinists union at Bath Iron Works have agreed to a new four-year-contract proposal from the company by a margin of 1343-1045.
Much grumbling was heard by members both entering and leaving Augusta Civic Center, where the vote was held. The company argued that the contract which offered no pay raises was needed to cut costs and secure a looming contract for coast guard cutters.
