18 Dec Senator Angus King on Trump impeachment
Maine’s independent U-S senator Angus King caucuses with Democrats and is widely viewed among Republicans as the functional equivalent of a Democrat. But he is taking a very cautious attitude to talk of impeaching President Trump–even after such talk has heated up in the wake of the filing from special counsel Robert Mueller endorsing some testimony of former Trump attorney Michael Cohen.
Cohen told prosecutors that he was ordered by Trump to make hush money payments to two women in 2016–so as not to jeopardize the Trump presidential campaign.
