Flames in Bath

Fire has destroyed a home at 4 Libby Court, where there were no injuries, and several pets were safely evacuated. The source of the fire is said to have been a space heater under a pickup truck in a carport attached to a house. Bath firefighters were joined at the scene by several neighboring fire departments.

The Culmination of an Embarrassing Situation

Former state representative Brian Jones of Freedom has now pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge and another charge of failing to provide police with his correct name. This follows an incident in September in which a state trooper discovered him having sex with a woman in a van in a “park and ride” lot in West Gardiner. Jones was given a 12-month deferred disposition, meaning that if he avoids further criminal trouble, he can withdraw those pleas and the charges will be dismissed.

One Bath book store replaces another

Connie Buston has decided to close Bath Book Shop on Front Street at the end of this month but opening on the 16th of February at 74 Front Street will be Mustard Seed Book Store, in the space that had been occupied by the Intown Shop. Mustard Seed will offer not only books, but also music, stationary and other gift items.
