The veteran former state senator from Brunswick left Augusta in 2016–not because he wanted to–but rather because he was required to leave by the state’s term-limits law.
Three years later he wants his old seat again. Stan’s largest problem is that the popular four-term veteran state representative Mattie Daughtry–like Gerzofsky a Democrat–wants the seat as well.
So we are in for a high-profile Democratic primary this spring in Senate District 24, which includes not only Brunswick, but also Harpswell, Freeport, Pownal and North Yarmouth.
It’s a race that may force many Democrats to make a choice they would rather not make.
Stan Gerzofsky’s second act began this morning on the WCME Midcoast Morning Buzz. If you missed it, you can hear it here.
