Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association Executive Director Ben Martens on the WCME Midcoast Morning Buzz

Ben Martens, with his fingers on the pulse of Maine’s fishing industry, gave us an update today on a coastal institution in Maine suddenly in jeopardy.

The federal government is discontinuing a $4.5 million grant program for Maine Sea Grant, one of the state’s major fishery organizations, as one of the first cuts in President Trump’s efforts to slash budgets.

Ben and others, including all four members of Maine’s congressional delegation hope to see this move rescinded.
