02 Mar High Hopes for the Recovery of Feline Frederick
It’s a sad story but one that also comes packaged with some hope. The Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick says a cat suffering severe injuries from what appears to be burns from a car engine is making a remarkable recovery. Frederick, a young orange tabby, was found at the Rush Trailer Park by the town’s animal control officer with wounds covering 40 percent of its lower back. In cold weather, cats and other small animals occasionally seek warmth from the engines of cars recently parked. But if the car can be re-started, the cat may not get an opportunity to escape. Coastal Humane Society veterinarian Dr. Mandie Wehr is cautiously optimistic that the cat will make a full recovery. The cost of his treatment has exceeded a thousand dollars.
