08 Aug Breaking: Topsham Cop Injured

There were thankfully no serious injuries, but Lucas Shirland, one of Topsham’s newest police officers, was treated and released from a hospital after his cruiser was struck by a drunk driver on Interstate 295. Shirland was responding to a report about the driver, who according to a police department Facebook post, found Shirland before the officer could locate the driver, who was taken into police custody. That man’s name has not been released.
Topsham police have released a photo of Shirland at the hospital.
