20 Sep Breaking from WCME News 9: Doctoral Discipline
Professional discipline for an orthopedic surgeon who practiced in Brunswick. The Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine and the state attorney general’s office have entered into a consent agreement with Dr. Peter Ameglio, who has apparently been on staff at both Midcoast Hospital and at Mercy Hospital in Portland, as well as at Coastal Orthopedics in Brunswick.
It’s an agreement in response to a complaint concerning the doctor’s medical documentation. Ameglio’s medical license will be placed on probation for an indeterminate time, and he’s required to complete 20 hours of continuing medical education and either complete an additional surgical fellowship or practice medicine with an orthopedic physician monitor. This action originated from a report that the doctor’s privileges and appointment to medical staff had been suspended based on substandard and inadequate care.
