A Non-Repentant LePage On The Midcoast

Radio 9 WCME was the only news organization on hand when Governor LePage rolled into Richmond Saturday afternoon at the end of a volatile week–for an appearance at a fundraiser held by Republican state senate candidate Guy Lebida.

The governor wouldn’t comment directly on widespread conclusions that his recent racial comments relating to the state’s opioid crisis suggest that he favors racial profiling as a drug-fighting strategy. But he once again slammed Westbrook Democratic state representative Drew Gattine, who LePage says called him a racist. Gattine says he stated that the governor made racially-charged remarks but didn’t use the racist label.

Monday morning at 7:35 on the WCME Midcoast Morning Buzz–you’ll hear the full remarks of the governor, and we’ll also hear the views of WCME political analyst John Richardson, a former Democratic speaker of the Maine House, and Brunswick state representative Mattie Daughtry.
