About This Project
Contrary to some expectations, the arrival of 60 more asylum-seeking families in Brunswick this summer and fall may not have substantial impact on the school system.
On the WCME Midcoast Morning Buzz, School Superintendent Phil Potenziano also indicated that he’s still wating for some of the anticipated students to arrive. However, the superintendent is also making it clear that the system is experiening a significant increase in students using English as a second language and multi-lingual students.
Potenziano also notes that Brunswick schools are experiencing a notable enrollment increase, partly because of move-ins from other places, and due to some students returning to the system in the aftermath of the pandemic.
