Brian Beal is a marine ecologist at the University of Maine at Machias who has just completed a study conducted at three marine locations in Maine–one of which is Harpswell.
A study into the effect of “brushing” on clam recruitment and survival–putting fir boughs and spruce boughs into mud to try to encourage clams to settle in those areas.
He talked with Jim Bleikamp in Harpswell as the study results were being released and you can hear the interview here.
