05 Jun Sarah Tracy on Freeport’s Recycling Re-do
In Freeport, U-turn when it comes to recycling strategy. Just two weeks after narrow passage by town councilors of a plan to shut down all four of the town’s “silver bullet” recycling locations in a cost-saving move, and a resulting outcry from town residents, councilors have now decided to keep two of those locations open in the soon-to-begin new fiscal year, while also embarking on an educational campaign aimed at reducing recycling contamination.
The eventual goal is to close all silver bullets and drive recycling traffic to the town’s transfer station.
This plan was introduced by town council chair Sarah Tracy, who explains it here.
