Breaking from WCME News 9:
It may be a history-making event in Maine politics. We can find no indication that a governor of either party has in any election
endorsed a primary challenger over an incumbent member of his own party, but today Governor LePage is siding with Guy Lebida, a conservative from Bowdoin, running to the right of incumbent Republican state senator Linda Baker of Topsham in the 23rd senate district, which includes all of Sagadahoc County and the Lincoln County town of Dresden.
Both Lebida and Baker are so far unavailable for comment. We at WCME became aware of this story when a LePage robo-call seeking support for Lebida came into the radio station.
