–Another boost from Washington for Bath Iron Works, which gets an 85 million dollar contract modification for design, planning and material support services for the maintenance and modernization of Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and guided-missile frigate ships. The shipyard is now at work on six destroyers.

–In Brunswick, First Parish Church has shut down a support group for convicted sex offenders in the aftermath of reports of a recent rape and attempted assault in the Bowdoin College area, where the church is located. Bowdoin director of security Randy Nichols says in an e-mail to students that he only recently learned about the group, which had been meeting weekly at the church for two years. Brunswick police commander Marc Hagan says the support group was not violating any law and police had never had any complaints or problems with the group. Hagan also says there is no link or suspected link between the support group and the November 10th rape or the November 17th assault.

It turns out that a prominent resident of Brunswick was in Paris at the time of the recent terror attacks. Town council chair Sarah Brayman arrived in the city on the morning of Friday November 13, the very day of the incidents, and is now safely back in Brunswick.

She was staying at a hotel only about a half-mile away from a theater which was the scene of one of the deadly attacks. Sarah Brayman will talk about her experience in Paris over the next two days on the WCME Midcoast Morning Buzz.
