Brunswick Harbor Master Dan Devereaux: Why Shellfishers are Battling Wormers

Devereaux says worms are in the same mudflat environment as clams. Smaller clams sit at the surface with worms just below them.  Wormers peel back the top layer, and when that happens, Devereaux says research indicates that about a third of shellfish in the harvested area are killed in the course of that process.
