No Parking

After substantial concern about congestion, about a buildup of snow and ice, and about possible access difficulties for emergency vehicles, there will be no parking for the next two weeks on Page Street near Bowdoin College in Brunswick. On February 2, the town council is due to hold a public hearing on a proposal to help relieve congestion through an overnight parking permit system for the street, similar to a plan already in place on Longfellow Avenue.

Suboxone Suspects in Topsham

A man and woman from Topsham are among seven suspects believed to have smuggled suboxone strips hidden inside holiday greeting cards into the Maine state prison at Warren. 30-year-old Travis Work is charged with drug trafficking and is already in custody on an unrelated charge, while 27-year-old Lisa Work has been likewise charged with drug trafficking and released. A 71-year-old Connecticut man also facing charges is said to have mailed the strips to the prison under the direction of an inmate, 41-year-old Paul Milardo of Cushing, doing time for robbery. The suboxone strips were purchased in Connecticut for about five dollars apiece and sold at the prison for about 400 dollars each.

Brunswick town clerk Fran Smith reminds us that  January 31 is the deadline for licensing your dog for 2015, and she tells WCME News 9 that at present about 1100 dogs in Brunswick are not yet registered for the new year.
