and the LePage administration is in something of a holding pattern, with Governor LePage promising to use the full extent of his authority to prevent the woman from having contact with the public. But so far, there is every sign that the nurse is ignoring the governor.

New Pressure on Strikers

A new wrinkle in the ongoing strike of Fairpoint Communications employees. The firm will stop providing health care benefits for strikers after today. Union leaders say the move was expected. A similar strategy was used by a telecommunications company in Hawaii to bring an end to a strike in 2011.
